Discover Hong Kong — Why Go?

A dazzling skyline beside ancient villages, Michelin-starred temples beside hawker stalls, neon night markets beside tranquil dragon-back trails. No city compresses so much world into so little space.

Getting Around Hong Kong

Hong Kong's public transport is world-class. Get an Octopus Card on arrival — it covers MTR, buses, trams, ferries, and even convenience stores.

🚇

MTR Metro

Extensive, air-conditioned, punctual and inexpensive. Connects all major districts, the airport, and cross-border to Shenzhen. Fares from HK$4–55.

💡 Buy an Octopus Card at any station — saves money vs single-journey tickets.

Star Ferry

Iconic harbour crossing between Tsim Sha Tsui and Central/Wan Chai. Running since 1888. One of the world's best value ferry rides at HK$2.70.

💡 Ride upper deck at night for the full Victoria Harbour light show experience.
🚃

Trams (Ding Ding)

Historic double-decker trams running along the north shore of Hong Kong Island since 1904. Slow but charming. Flat fare HK$3.

💡 Hop on at Causeway Bay heading west for a classic HK experience.
🚌

Buses & Minibuses

Double-decker buses cover routes not served by MTR. Green minibuses go everywhere — flag them down anywhere. Night buses run after MTR closes.

💡 Airport Express bus (A buses) is often cheaper than MTR for budget travellers.
🚡

Peak Tram

Funicular railway to Victoria Peak since 1888 — world's steepest funicular gradient. Lines can be long; go before 10am or after 8pm.

💡 The MTR to Central + bus 15C to Peak Tram is faster than queuing at the bottom.
✈️

Airport & Arrivals

HKIA at Lantau is connected by Airport Express (24 mins to Central, HK$115). Taxis cost ~HK$350–420 to Kowloon/HK Island.

💡 Airport Express in-town check-in at Central/Kowloon stations — drop bags early.
